Subject:Naming a screen? From:"Geoff Hart" <geoff-h -at- mtl -dot- feric -dot- ca> To:TECHWR-L -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com Date:Tue, 4 Jan 2000 14:37:49 -0500
Lean Ni Chuilleanain is <<...documenting a web application... The
screen contains a number of tabs labelled according to the different
states a document can be in (pending, approved, etc.).Above the
tabs is a list of totals - total documents in the system, and a
breakdown by tab. It is this list that I want to name (as in "the total
number of documents in each tab is indicated on the XXX").>>

should pick a name based on what you're providing for the reader:
in this case, that's a summary.
<<The best I can come up with is "Statistics Display"...>>
"Statistics" always brings to mind a university course that scares
off anyone but a mathematician, so it's probably not the best word
to use for just about any general audience.
<<I await your pearls of wisdom.>>
Would you settle for slightly used oysters? <g>
