Reading through tech reference documents I found many references to
"stringified" and "stringify", for example "stringified full entity names".

Does anyone else have info on how long this coinage has been in use, and how
wide its acceptance is?

I've seen this use among Java programmers, but have always avoided it in my documentation. The suggested "converted to a string" (or "String" if it's the Java class) works.
