I recommend two books: Adobe's tutorial-based FrameMaker Classroom in a Book
and IDG's reference FrameMaker 5.5.6 for Dummies. Together, these should
serve you well.
Ok. After you create your chapters, you create a new, multifile book that
comprises those chapters. This book (which really is just contains link
information) is where you tell pagination to restart. In the book file,
right-click each chapter in turn and choose setup. This lets you set the
prefix for your page numbering (i.e., for chapter 2, the prefix might be
"2-" and for the TOC, the prefix might be "Contents-").
You define the style and format of your TOC in the reference pages of the
TOC itself (View|Reference pages). For example: <$paratext> . . . .
<$pagenum>.
$Pagenum will grab the prefix you set using the book file. Also, when
thumbing through FrameMaker's user guide, you should checkout variable use
in FrameMaker and autonumbering.
Hope this helps and best regards,
Sean
