This is going to sound terrible, but I'm on a roll
this week, so why stop.
Anyway...I've been watching the messages about all the
hoops that people are jumping through to create just
the right format of resume (with very little
discussion on content, btw), and I'm wondering why it
is necessary to go through all this scrambling
around...it's not like there is a lack of positions to
choose from.
Maybe its different in my neck of the woods, but there
are more positions out there than I can swing a stick
at. In my experience, the content is more important
because it will prove your fit for the highest paying
jobs through a demonstration of gobs and gobs of
experience with gobs and gobs of types of writing for
gobbs and gobs of different types of companies.
Is it really that tough to find a position that we
have to carry around multiple formats, versions,
sizes, shapes, colors.....
Frankly, aside from the fact that I've never needed
to, I can't be concerned with maintaining multiple
versions of a document.
Just create a resume with the strongest content,
instruct the agency that if they change one word
besides the header you won't speak to them again, and
field the calls...at least this is the way it works
for me.
