I'm quite the newbie with this whole contracting bit and i have a few
quick questions.
In general...
First, a hiring consultant asked me if I was Incorporated or 'w-2' . I
guess the distinction is pretty self explanatory, but at one point is it
smart for an independent contractor to become incorporated? Is either one
a potential plus or minus for your client?
Second, for what type of situation does one have to go through the whole
RFP process and then write up a formal contract? For the projects that I
have a few leads on, it seems that a technical recruiter connects you with
a client and you basically do the work until the job is finished. I'm
guessing that as the project winds down (hopefully within their estimated
timeframe) you get an idea of the exact date when you are no longer
needed and free again. How close is this to reality?
Finally, can you guys point me to some resources regarding the whole
independent contractor business?
