Mark,
Are you selecting the word you want to search/replace? I've only seen this
behavior in Word when I have something selected, then call up the
Search/Replace dialog box. Try calling it up without having text selected.
As for the case bit, as someone else said, this should be "remembered" from
your last selection.

I have to do a lot of Find/Replace in my project, and _every_ _single_
_time_ I bring up the Find and Replace dialog, it automatically defaults to
"Search Up, Match Case". I do NOT want to search up and I do NOT care about
case.

Is there any way to change this default? Are they purposely trying to annoy
the *&$#% out of me?

Sorry. After doing this hundreds of times, it really wears on the nerves.
