My company has recently begun using XML in our application development. I
was invited to some of the developers' initial meetings to determine how
their use of XML would affect my job of writing the help.
I know and use HTML and HTML-Help, but I don't have a good idea of how XML
would fit into my world. Do I need it? Do I want it? Am I better off
sticking with what I use now? And most importantly, does the use of XML
enhance my users' efficiency, productivity, and knowledge of the product I'm
documenting?
New tools are neat, but if they aren't going to be useful, are they worth
the effort of change?
I wasn't much help in my meetings (obviously), but I'd like to learn more
about the whats, whys, and hows of XML.
