I tried it several months ago, and abandoned it in favor of long documents.
I didn't have any file corruption problems in the sub documents, but the
master document kept losing all of the links to the sub documents. It seemed
to have something to do with whether the sub documents were expanded when I
closed the master document-if they were, all of the child documents would be
missing the next time I opened the master. I had to build the master
document all over again, nearly every time I opened it.
That, and having to futz around with the styles (which seemed completely
inconsistent), led me to the conclusion that little was fixed.
I have done several 70-150 page documents recently, however, filled with
cross references, TOC, index, and graphics, and had no major problems. I
religiously avoid using OLE to insert pictures; I either use a LINK field,
or Insert Picture from File-never cut and paste.

feature in Word 2000

Has anyone else tried the master documents feature as
of late??
