Peter Lucas wrote "...Is there any way to have FrameMaker connect to live
data in a database using
ODBC and then display that data in a table?..." You may want to send an
email message to Frank Elmore, project manager for FrameScript,
(mailto:frametools -at- fml -dot- com) which is distributed by Finite Matters Limited
(http://www.fml.com/). The next release, due out this summer, will
supposedly enable communication between FrameMaker and database systems such
as Microsoft Access. FrameScript exposes Frame's C-language API in a high
level, object-oriented scripting language.

I use FrameScript extensively here at ENCORP and also as an independent
consultant. One of our scripts automatically produces properly formatted
FrameMaker documents by parsing our source code and extracting variables and
their corresponding comments. I run this script periodically to capture
changes to our firmware products and use the resulting Frame file as the
starting point for writing end user and internal documentation. I have also
written scripts to produce dynamic HTML web pages and Microsoft HTML Help
projects from our FrameMaker books.

I am in no way associated with FrameScript or Finite Matters Limited but
have found this $149.00 product extremely useful. I am also delighted with
their prompt and friendly technical support and frequent upgrades.
