My couple of comments are this:

I've been a plenty of positions where the client doesn't return my phone calls,
emails, or phone calls to other team members trying to hunt a person down. I am
at a disadvantage because I work 90% off-site, BUT I just FINISH the project
according to what we originally talked about. If the client doesn't like what I
created, I either convince them that what I did was "industry-standard," or I
fix it to their liking and bill them for it.

In addition, if they don't return drafts, I'll call a couple of times, but if
they don't respond, I just ignore them and work on something else. This has
worked out EXCELLENT for me in the past 2 years. Prior to that I would stress
out about not having reviews, or people not calling me back, but now I don't
care! What are they going to do? They've, usually, already spent a buncha money
on me, so they aren't going to let me go.

BTW, the only time I stopped work for a client was when they owed me around
$13K, and I was nervous. I was paid, and I resumed work. They actually
hand-delivered the check, but now they are going under fast... swim! swim!

Michele
