Hi everyone! I posted a question last week regarding online help...HELP! - to which I'm compiling the answers for anyone that is interested. Thanks to everyone that responded!

Even though, at times, I feel more confused, the light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel.

Now I have another question:

Is this correct? Certain Online help systems work only on specific operating systems. Our software is written for NT 4 and is a system requirement for our users. I read that Win Help is the only online Help offered on this system.

Our objective is online help including a glossary/TOC/support notes/links/pop up definitions. Our process is going to be to move our hardcopy FrameMaker docs. (on Mac) to RTF Word docs. (on PCs), editing the information in to Books/topics/text in RoboHelp. I know that this is going to be extremely tedious with the entire system so want to be sure at the start. (The online demo with a small document works nicely by the way).

I'll also post this to other HAT lists, but thought I'd respond here since my first responsibility is to write the manual.

It helps for me to see a picture/flow chart of the process. This is the flow for our proposed help system:

FrameMaker Doc > Word > RoboHelp > online help

(BTW, I just installed Web Works Publisher on to my system. It came with my Frame 6 update, but is only the standard edition. Can Web Works Publisher offer any help in the process?)

Thanks for your help!

Chris Fitzgerald
