My portfolio also has a page, done by me that describes the task to be solved, my part in the solution, any unusual things about the sample. I do include letters and such.

I would recommend attending Lance Gelein's (I don't think I spelled that correctly) Portfolio talk if you have the chance. Lance does a great job of explaining the portfolio and how he it works for him.
