Martha,

I agree with your manager on not including 3rd party information in
your docs. You might include a statement or section that explains all
these other apps are needed (even list the apps if need be). Then
point off to those docs for detailed installation instructions.

If your developers can't see the logic in this, enlist your manager to
help explain it to them.
