I don't know about V6.0, but in earlier versions,
choose Foormat > Document > Change Bars.
In the Change Bar Properties dialog, you
can use the Distance From Column parameter
to move the change bars farther away from the text.
Note also that you can change the thickness,
color, and position of the change bars.
