Members of the list,

As much as I have used FrameMaker, there is still one issue that still bedevils me. Perhaps someone on the list knows of a better way to do this operation.

I am forever getting documents that were created in MS Word that require conversion to FrameMaker. I've handled them with relatively little pain until I got a document that had one never-ending table that was apparently created as several disjoint table rows that were pushed together in Word. When I imported the document into FrameMaker, each of the table rows turned into a separate table. Reformatting this table was about as much fun as having a root canal.

In addition, when I import a table from Word into FrameMaker, the heading rows become regular table rows. To redefine them as heading rows seems to be quite an ordeal, one that I do not enjoy.

Does anyone have a straightforward method of overcoming the awkwardness of the table import? It would be more than welcome right now, as I have a massive import on my hands and rather limited time to invest.
