Oh boy! Another "run away" post!
Yes, let's all just run away from all our problems and
not even try to approach them reasonably and perhaps
try to change the situation for the better! We'll all
run, and for those of us taking notes, we'll soon
realize that writers have run from 95% of the jobs out
there! The "good companies" will then be flooded with
resumes, and we'll all be out on our duffs except the
few chosen few who win the job! What a hoot!
C'mon people. Just because you find out your situation
isn't the best, that doesn't mean you have to run
away. Hell, we'd be job hopping like mad! Then who'd
hire us? I think the person who posted the initial
question had the right idea - get an idea of what
other companies are doing and why they are succeeding
and present that as an incentive to change current
practices.
We're all (presumably) communications specialists in
here (to one degree or anther). Use your "undervalued"
skills to try to change your situation. If you fail,
and if you THEN can't take it anymore, by all means
look for work elsewhere if that's what you want to do.
But if you succeed, your "undervalued" skills will
then be "highly valued". and if your idea ends up
helping your company hire and sustain a talented,
happily-employed workforce, you could be rewarded
handsomely for your contribution to the bottom line.
The only fight you should ever run from is the one
which you have repeatedly proven you cannot win.
