Many thanks to Dick and Gerd for responding to my question; however, I had
already tried the method they suggested, using the object selection tool,
and it didn't work; hence my post. Now that Lynn has told us about the
security feature, I will investigate further to see if that's why I'm unable
to lasso and move the flowchart. I appreciate everyone's help.

Subject: AW: Moving graphics in PDF files
Allyson Smith wants to "move a flowchart graphic within a .pdf document
using Acrobat 4.0.".
Allyson, it' simple:
click on the last button in the tools palette (on the left margin) and keep
the mouse key pressed until a 2nd hidden button pops up. It's the "TouchUp
Object Tool". Drag the mouse over it (key still pressed), release, and -
voila - you can drag your graphic around at will.
BTW: This (and all the other badly marketed Acrobat features) is documented
in the online Acrobat Guide...
Good luck,
