I don't understand why a nice, simple table wasn't used. I have at home a
laminated, unused ballot from the first South African election after Mandela
was freed, and it's quite clear; the type is a reasonable size, and each row
of the table has a photo of the candidate, the party's logo, the candidate's
name and the name of the party, and a big ol' box (about .75 inches a side)
to place your X. It's about 13 inches long and maybe 8 inches wide,
accomodating something like 30 candidates. Remarkably clear and easy to
use, and even people who can't read can use it.
