Yes, it is possible to specify both bullets and numbering using CSS. If
you go to the W3C site and navigate to their CSS information, you can
pick up a lot.

Here's a link to the page that lists the properties and values that
properties can contain: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/propidx.html.

As someone pointed out, you do need to check specific values with the
browsers you're expecting people to use when accessing your pages as
not all browsers support CSS the same way. More's the pity as following
W3C standards sure does relieve a lot of headaches when it comes to
developing documents, IMHO of course. <g>
