At my last job, the editor felt the same way as your last editor. At my
new job,
we don't have an editor, so the writers got to
make the decision. The other writers and I decided on "appears". We
felt
"displays" sounded a little convoluted. The world
hasn't come to a screeching halt and I don't think our audience cares
one way or
another. Now, I don't know if this word choice has an impact on
localization or
not. I'd like to know if it's an issue.
