Hi, guys...I just got an email from "the big guy" at my contract,
that he wants to meet tomorrow to discuss having my Help translated
in several languages. This includes, but doesn't limit it to French,
Italian, Spanish, German, as well as Japanese and Chinese.

The Help is done in RH9. It is being made application context
sensitive via MapID numbers. We're talking about maybe 600 topics,
and 300 popup topics. Screens will have to be replaced and image maps
re-applied after the application is translated.

I'd like to have an idea of the major issues that others have run
into where you've said "If I'd only known..." This is besides the
expected "Oy, I'll never translate help again...!"

What I'm proposing is that a separate complete help is created for
each language with the same MapID number used for the same topic in
each language and that the reference to the correct CHM file is
passed through some type of variable to each application screen so
that the number is retained, just referenced against a different
compiled help.

Not being a programmer, I'd like to know if I'm coming from left
field on this, and what other issues had to be dealt with in this
translation process.

Time is kinda tight...I'd like to be able to compile any responses
for presentation at the meeting 8:30am.

Thanks, guys...
