John Renish politely pointed out, off-list, that there's no such thing as a
female peacock, since the species is actually known as "peafowl", and her
ladyship would in fact be a "peahen". Oops! I take refuge in the fact that
nobody else corrected me, and thus, rather than having committed a gross
error, I actually used my exquisite judgment to choose a word appropriate
for a non-ornithological audience.
I think few layfolk but John are assiduous enough to recognize the oversight (um, editorial license?). <g>
