Beware of "free stuff" that's not open source.

I used 20/20, by American Software for a couple of
years, and it did what I wanted.
The software was supported by advertising. An ad
popped up as the program loaded. A few ads were kept
in rotation. Once a month, the program went to the
author's site and downloaded a new set of ads. The
whole thing was quite painless.

Then, a few months ago, the program attempted its
monthly update, and the ad server wasn't at the other
end. The program, 20/20, was stuck. Without a new
batch of advertisements it would not proceed past that
point in the loading process. I was stuck.

So, I bought SnagIt.
End of story. :-)
