I believe I brought this subject up from a different perspective some time
ago, but now I am once again looking for information on software
certification.

We are currently launching a Learning Management System type software
package. I was aksed to look into the certification of this software, and
one of the certification bodies names I was given was AICC. My boss, who is
out of the country at this time is now indicating that AICC may no longer be
the "gold standard" of certification. However, the conversation, (which
reached me third hand, did not elicit the name/acronym of the "new"
standard.)

Is there anyone with any expertise with regard to certification of software
on the list who could contact me privately, or does anyone know of a listing
of certification bodies out there. The numerous searches I have done have
resulted in a few names in addition to AICC, such as SCORM, ASTD, CEN/ISSS,
IEEE, IMS, ISPI, NIST and SALT. However, I have no way of knowing which is
the "top dog" if any.

Even being pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
