I highly recommend multiple monitors. I brought an old video card from home
and talked my manager into letting me dig out an old 14" display that no one
was using. When I'm documenting software, I can open the application on the
second screen so I can see it while I'm writing a document. I also
frequently open source documents to quickly scan through, and sometimes copy
and paste sections of text.
A few weeks after I set up my second monitor my manger decided to add a
second monitor to his home computer. The next day he came in with a huge
smile, saying he didn't know how he ever lived without it.
