Yet, your speech may be the lone reason why 5 people
decided to attend the entire conference (the deciding
session). No, I don't think speakers should pay to
attend a conference that they are contributing toward.

BTW, no one has mentioned whether or not the STC pays
its conference speakers. Am I to understand that
because they expect you to pay admission that they
also expect you to release your intellectual property
for free? That is a truly scary thought.
