I'm glad you trust her judgment. I guess I have worked with some folks
in the past that were, let's say, quick to change things before they
truly understood what it was they were changing.

Based on your clarification, I think you did the right thing.
Processes shouldn't be so rigid that they impact knowledge transfer or
the schedules people must meet.
