Just as we must capitalize "Web" when we are
using the nickname of the World Wide Web,
we must capitalize Baby Boomer when we are
using it as a name. If you've ever heard of
"the Lost Generation", then you've seen a
similar usage.
Without capitalizing "Baby Boomer", you have a common
noun, "baby", that is modified by the adjective "boomer",
which means "one who booms" (whatever that means).
Because the term makes no sense as a common noun and
adjective, that is, because "one who booms a baby" makes
no sense, you must treat the term as a name.
