TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.

It is one thing when the audience has to read a passage twice to understand
the technical content, but entirely another if they have to read it twice
just to figure out what the writer was trying to say BEFORE considering the
technical content.
I concur with the other postings. If both versions have problems, use your
version because it probably has fewer problems. You probably didn't change
the technical meaning any more than his mangled version obscured it. Go
forward, not back.
You did your job faithfully. Stick to your guns.
Whether or not he reviews it for technical accuracy is between him and the
project manager. If he is really pressed for time, then he should be happy
that you did anything at all to make his work better.
