It occurred to me to check my "Mouse Properties" on my Windows system
to see what our friends at Microsoft actually did (as opposed to what
MMOS might have said was its standard) with my mouse. I have one of
those two-button mice with the little scrolling wheel in the middle.
Under the "Quick Setup" tab on the Mouse Properties screen it labels
the active areas of the mouse as follows:
1. Click/Select
2. Universal Scroll
3. Context Menu/Alternate Select
For this mouse, it appears that I can configure 1 or 3 to be either
left or right, and there are three options for what 2 can do.
It seems to me that you need to select a nomenclature and use it
consistently, maybe with a picture to let the user know what is what,
which is what somebody did with my Mouse Properties screen.
