It depends whether you are writing in American English or British English.
Pick one, buy a dictionary (the Concise Oxford Dictionary is good British
English, Merriam-Webster's 10th Collegiate is good American English), set
your word-processor to that variation, and stick to it.
If you have to use American English I recommend www.voycabulary.com - a good
American English Internet dictionary, based on MW10.
Signaling is the preferred American spelling: Signalling the preferred
British spelling.
