What is a "techie" technical writer?

Since several messages from Thursday's list (I get the digest) mentioned
"techie" and "non-techie" technical writers, I was wondering how other
people on the list would define the differences between the two types. A
former co-worker once told me he thought I was more a writer than a
technical person, but I consider myself a techie for several reasons:

1. I used to be a programmer/analyst (back in the dim time, mostly
military-specific languages).
2. I have written interface requirements.
3. I have written API documentation and reverse engineered design docs from
source code.
4. I am a bit of a geek regarding personal interests.

That said, I know I could never hold my own in a conversation with a real
technical person and I probably couldn't program my way out of a paper bag
using Java or any of the other newer languages. So am I really just a
"pseudo-techie"? Or is it all a "mute" point anyway (sorry Arlen, couldn't
resist that).
