Hi everyone,
I have written a user's manual for an application used by a new department
in our hospital. HR wants to change it to a binder that also contains policy
information. I'm okay with the binder format, and they have handed me two
documents that contains jargon-y policy/training materials.
This manual is for brand-new employees who, may have had experience in a
medical field, but not on our specific system or performing the duties now
requested of them.
They want this manual to contain:
1. Customer Service information, such as how to answer a phone, conflict
management, time management and Prioritization, and Medical Terminology.
2. An overview of the functions of the new department and how it relates to
other hospital departments.
3. A user's manual for the actual systems used by the department. (There are
two, plus a small web-based application.)
4. Insurance overview
It seems like it could work if I prune and re-write the policy stuff to
exclude the jargon, but has anyone else every written such a hybrid
document.
They are pretty insistant that this remain one document.
TIA
