Reading this thread is strange karma for me. I just completed a first time
medical writing project this morning after numerous agonizing self edits.
It is truly a frightening job. Kudos to some of the brilliant listers with
their suggestions! I tried several of them and wished I could have seen
more before handing final copy in today!
The items that really worked for me were:
1. Starting fresh in the morning to review text written the day before.
2. Using that ruler for "line by line" review.
3. Reading from the end to the beginning.
I must add that if at all possible have a co-worker, friend, or in my case,
a husband who works in business take a look at the work to at least see if
the piece makes sense and is readable. I was blind to simple errors after
editing myself for 3 days.
Keep up the great ideas and thank you. My boss loved the completed project.
Some of you made my day!
