I have always found it useful to cultivate a good relationship with IT.
Perhaps brownies will work for you, but I generally try to discuss techie
matters with them (e.g., is the network server being backed up, how much
space can I use on the network server, etc.)
Once they see that I can "talk tech" with them, they take my complaints more
seriously, and also think of me when they have spare goodies :-)
