spend reading or scanning content as against scanning a page and immediately
moving to another page, looking at navigation bars, waiting for downloads
(obviously depends on connection speed) etc? That is what proporation of
their time on your site do they spend actually
digesting your content?
A good place to review on these topics is the Jakob Nielsen website (no
personal connection) at http://www.useit.com A lot of the articles here
discuss "dwell" times as affected by poor page design. See especially the
"alertbox" columns. About all of this is related to any form of tech
writing IMHO, be it web pages or printed pages.
