I've worked in companies that have used "product photographers" who
specialize in such photography. They are often part of a MarCom/PR agency.
If a company I worked for was cash strapped, they'd grab anyone who knew how
to push the shutter button...and the results were less than stellar. I think
it's probably another value-add service you could provide if you do your
homework.
