I finally decided to chime in.

I hated writing in school. In fact, to get into the UC system in California
you have to pass a specific writing test, the Subject A. I didn't. So my
first quarter of college, I had to take a special writing class. Looking
back, I find it comical that I'm now writing for my job.
The problem, as I see it, with school writing is that they want you to write
the five paragraph (or equivalent) essay -- opening paragraph, three topic
paragraphs, closing paragraph. The real world doesn't write that way.

As far a burnout... I've decided that I should do contracting. I'll most
likely do it through an agency first. I'm not sure I'm prepared to deal with
the tax and other legal issues on my own just yet.
But I do get tired of jobs. After about 6 months, things start to lose their
novelty. I've been with my currenty company 8 months. And I love what I do.
I'll probably stick it out here longer than my last two jobs (10 months
each). And I learn new things everyday. But, when I do decide to leave, I
want to try contracting. For me, it's one way (I think) I can get out of
feeling bored.
