XML (actually a subset of SGML) is more of an emerging technology, which may
explain its relative lack of use so far. It does seem to be the big
buzzword now, but so was push technology a few years ago.

Check out this site for the definite word on XML:

http://www.w3.org/XML/

There is more info at:

http://www.hwg.org/

And a free online introductory class at:

http://www.barnesandnobleuniversity.com/

There is a message board for this class where students can ask questions of
the instructor. I left a question asking the advantages of XML over SGML.
It might be worth your time to register for the class just to be able to ask
an expert some specific questions.

Subject: XML vs. SGML for DocBook

I am working with Emacs and psgml and am now convinced that SGML is the way
to go with DocBook because "everyone else is using it". Can anyone suggest
why I might choose XML instead?
