PDF is a destination. You can find software to convert PDF to HTML, RTF, and
TXT. However, PDF does not contain the formatting information that a Word
doc would. Checkout http://www.pdfzone.com for utilities . . . bear in mind,
these are probably expensive and, probably, a lot depends on what fonts were
used and whether they were embedded.
