Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and for commiserating.

I ended up just doing this the old-fashioned, annoying way -- I created a new parent directory on my network with a name identical to that of my client's parent directory and then copied my entire directory structure under it. So the only difference was the drive letter, which I think FM was smart enough to ignore. Then, I went in and manually (sigh) altered all the directory names in all the cross refs that FM identified as bad.

I was intrigued by John Waddell's MIF editing solution, but it arrived too late for me to try. But, now that I have "backup" copies of all these files :), and after I get some sleep, I'm thinking of giving MIF editing a try. Might look good on my resume, no?

I hate it when that happens. This message isn't off topic. This may be too
late to help you with this one.

There are two ways I know of to fix it: 1. Redo all of the cross-refs the
old fashioned way with the correct directory structure, or B. Modify the
frame file to update the path by editing the MIF. ...
