I have to disagree with you there. I'm an experienced Windows user and
all-around computer geek, but if I see instructions telling me to click
Open, I'll be scouring the screen for the Open button. :)

My rule of thumb is, if it's not visible on the screen (or if it's barely
noticeable in some obscure or counterintuitive spot on-screen), I tell the
user exactly where to look.

That said, "Select File, Open" works for me too.
