I'm about to go offlist, and yes, I *know* that departures and arrivals
don't need to be announced... but this is a rather good case of Cosmic
Irony. I'd made up my mind to stay in my current job until May, for a bunch
of trivial reasons that all seemed to add up to a sound platform. Then it
began to look a little ricketty, and I'd definitely made up my mind to go. I
had Friday afternoon off to go to an SF convention (and Monday to recover
in) so Friday just after lunch I sped off a number of emails and got some
very satisfactory rapid responses. I was (not) looking forward to handing my
manager my resignation at the end of this week.

On Tuesday morning were all called to a special departmental meeting and
were told we'd been made redundant. Sometimes, life is just brillig.

Jane Carnall

O brillig de Twas, e os toves slithy fizeram o gyre e gimble no wabe. Toda
mimsy eram os borogroves, e o outgrabe dos raths do mome.
