Yes it can. That is the whole idea of a trademark. If your product
gets a good reputation, you want customers to buy it from you, not
the company down the street who makes almost the same thing for
%10 less. All the money and effort you spent into developing the
product and making it something good enough for most people to
recognize by name is lost when I go into Best Buy, point at a Sanyo
copier and say, give me one of them xerox machines over there.
