I've worked at three companies that tested (and trained) with M-B. I
believe the primary purpose of the testing was to get people accustomed to
the increasing diversity in the work force.

I also did some original research for a degree program that was more
interesting than I expected: the questionnaire that I was using to study
gender and collaboration showed an incredible difference in maturity
levels. For example, tech writers would try to add more marks on the scale
- on a scale of 0 - 9, they wanted to answer 3.5, or 8.7. The engineers, on
the other hand, would answer 0 or 9 all the way through, and were quite
concerned that they would be "graded" for "incorrect" answers. No wonder we
needed M-B.

I also do a lot of unpaid tech-writer type stuff - as president of our
local humane society in North Georgia, I have instituted a quarterly
newsletter and put a lot of process in place. I've even created a form to
keep track of the forms - almost ISO-like. Scary, isn't it. It's a shame
the more fulfilling things in life don't pay as well as the more mundane.
