Actually I agree with Andrew, and no offense to the list, but I don't
think this list covers it. After reading Andrews post, I thought to myself
"maybe there needs to be another group/society." A society where the
information
that is passed along is about the technical aspects of writing, rather than
the writing tools, etc.

I recently rejoined STC, but only because my company paid for it. For the
last
2 or 3 years I did not renew my membership because I did not think getting
the
Intercom magazine was worth the membership fee. And I never attended a
conference
because I never thought the seminars were worth the cost of the
registration. If I am
going to attend a seminar about tools or writing tips, I would rather
pick and choose from seminars that are offered close to home by various
training groups.
(Bad, bad girl, wasting Nextel's money when she won't waste her own! <slap
hand>)

Anyway, I would not know where to begin starting a group like the one Andrew
joked
about, but I sure would join if one existed.
