That was what I ultimately had to do.

Only, because it was preinstalled on original equipment, it meant a
custom reinstall.

I consider that to be a pretty heavy duty solution to something that
should have been, in my opinion, possible to do with a check box under
Tools --> Options, or by selecting something under Help.
