Thanks, Jo, you're right. As for hardcopy conventions, I already know and
use those.

I want to break with those conventions on our Extranet, and wanted to find
out if any usability studies would support me. I've been working on Web
content since 1998, and--I don't know--I may just put my foot down and say
I'll use digits for numbers below 10 on Web pages.

<bold>So far, responses directly to me encourage me to do so. Those TW-Lers
have referenced usability studies. I'll post a summary tomorrow.</bold>

I do appreciate *everyone's* interest in this topic, no matter if they
addressed writing for the Web or not. Reinforcement of conventions for
hardcopy is a good thing! :-)

I thought the point of the original question was whether there was any good
reason for a different convention in writing for the Web vs. writing for had
copy.

I'm not seeing anyone address the question of whether the Web is such a
different animal that it requires different rules. I'd be interested in that
angle.
