I'd aim at clean HTML, viewable with any browser:

Try running it through the World Wide Web Consortium's HTML Tidy
program:

http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett/tidy/

They are the standards body for the web; their stuff usually works
quite well.

Or you could bring it up in a text editor (wordpad?), have a look
at the tags, remove MS-crud(TM). Start by removing all font tags:

Word-generated HTML files I've looked at have lots of font tags. I
presume the same defect might be present in other MS products.
