If a PDF has a low number of pages, I print it out. If it has a lot of
pages, then I print out the sections as I need them. What is my magic line
between an acceptable number of pages to print? Probably 65 or so - at work
on a laser printer. At home where I have an inkjet printer, my limit would
be more like 20 pages.

We create PDFs that use a paper doc metaphor as well. We also have
context-sensitive WebHelp files that are maintained separately and have the
same content. The WebHelp files have more links and tend to have the
information in smaller chunks.
